AB 1125—continuous appropriation for state worker salaries—is now AB 1699
Updated Feb. 9, 2010
Assembly Bill 1699 is the reincarnation of its stalled counterpart, Assembly Bill 1125. This bill is essentially the same as AB 1125 in that it would provide a continuous appropriation for state employee salaries. AB 1699 is the only way to ensure that state employees get paid in full and on-time in the event of a late state budget.
The governor has once again released a state budget that will prove difficult for state workers. Budget negotiations between the Legislature and the governor will be another long and arduous process.
If there is no state budget in place by the June 30, 2010 constitutional deadline, the governor may try to pay most state workers federal minimum wage -- $7.25 an hour.
Join us by taking action today--tell your legislators to vote for Assembly Bill 1699 (Hernandez)--a continuous appropriation bill for state employees.
